Flamenco is a highly expressive Spanish art form that combines singing (cante), guitar playing (toque), dance (baile), and vocalizations (jaleo). Originating in the Andalusian region of southern Spain, flamenco has deep roots in the cultural interactions of the region’s historical communities, including the Moors, Jews, Christians, and the Romani people.
Flamenco remains a dynamic and evolving art form, celebrated for its emotional depth, technical precision, and cultural richness.
Flamenco’s origins date back to the 18th century, although its roots are older, influenced by the folk traditions and cultural exchanges in Andalusia. In 2010, UNESCO recognized flamenco as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, highlighting its cultural importance and need for preservation.
