Taking advantage of the break between the Olympics and the Paralympics Games, let’s enjoy a Paris empty of tourists and locals.
The Square du Vert-Galant is a small triangular park pointing downriver located at the western end of the Ile de la Cité, next to the Pont Neuf, in the First Arrondissement of Paris. It was created in 1884 by joining two small islands to the larger island.
Welcome:
- Arrive early to secure a good spot.
- Pick up fresh bread, cheese, charcuterie, fruits, and pastries from local markets or boulangeries. Don’t forget a bottle of wine or some sparkling water.
- Bring a blanket or a portable picnic mat, and consider carrying some lightweight folding chairs if you prefer seating.
- Make sure to bring bags for trash and recycling to leave the area as clean as you found it.
