Paco de Lucía Interpretation Centre: A Journey into the Soul of Flamenco in Algeciras
In the heart of Algeciras, at 3 Ruiz Zorrilla Street, there is a unique space. This space pays tribute to one of Spain’s most universal musicians: Paco de Lucía. The Paco de Lucía Interpretation Center, inaugurated in December 2024, is not just a museum. It is a vibrant place where art, memory, and flamenco music interact with the visitor.
A Building with History
The center occupies a 1931 palace that, after careful restoration, has become a cultural reference point in the city. It was once the headquarters of the First Institute of Hygiene and Health of Algeciras. Later, it served as a station for the Local Police. Today, its rooms overflow with music and photographs. They are filled with memories of the genius who brought flamenco to every corner of the planet.
Six Spaces to Discover Paco
The permanent exhibition is divided into six thematic areas that explore the life and work of the guitarist:
- The Son of the Portuguese
- The Owner of the Guitar
- Genius of Flamenco
- Algeciras is Music
- Guitarist of the World
- Paco in Images
Each space combines personal objects, audiovisual materials, and interactive elements. This offers an immersive experience. It connects the visitor to the master’s journey.
Much More Than an Exhibition
The center has the auditorium “La Casa de Paco,” where concerts, workshops, master classes, and flamenco shows are organized. Moreover, it has a souvenir shop and will soon open a café, ideal for completing the visit.
